BHA
Commonly known butylated hydroxyanisole BHA, is an additive used in foods and other products to protect taste and color by preventing the oxydation of fats. BHA is composed of two organic isomers called 3-tert-butyl-4-hydroxyanisole and 2-tert-butyl-4-hydroxyanisole.
BHA has a waxy consistency and is white or yellow in color. It is used in foods and other types of products because it is an antioxidant that prevents fats from decomposing when exposed to oxygen. BHA is fat soluble, which allows it to combine well with products that contain vegetable or animal fats. It also prevents the formation of foam.
